David Lovejoy

Faculty Emeritus

David’s association with Â鶹ÊÓƵ goes back 57 year to when he came to PC as a student as a
student in 1969. He graduated with a BA in 1973, combining his interests in outdoor adventure, earth
sciences and photography. After a number of years working as an outdoor instructor, freelance guide
and house builder, he returned to Â鶹ÊÓƵ in 1979 to serve on the faculty in the Outdoor
Action/Adventure Education Department where he helped to build and sustain the program for 37 years. As
faculty emeritus since 2016, he continues his involvement, doing presentations and mentoring
independent studies, mostly in areas of his expertise: snow and avalanche studies, guidebook design,
mountain geography, weather and climate, history of adventure and outdoor education. He is also
happy to be a resource in connecting students with sources of productive internships in these
disciplines.
